A marketing strategy to go wrong?
For some of you out there that subscribe to RealArcade's GamePass subscription service , you may have already received a letter in your email box that on the 27th, the price is going up to $9.99 a month. This, is outrageous. First Big Fish Games shows RealArcade to the door by discontinuing the distribution of their games on RealArcade, then we have the forums censorship scandal, and now this. A price increase. They are starting to get very greedy. Luckily I stopped my subscription service quite awhile ago. Its not a good value anymore because of their lack of variety and slow game release schedule. Only 2 to 3 games a week. There are other services out there that are a better value for the price. Big Fish Games is one of them. Sure they might have stopped distribution of their games on RealArcade, but they have a service thats undeniably addictive. Plus , they have a area called " My Big Fish Games Space" similar to my space, but rewards you for referrals and game review write ups in the form of online cash that lets you cash in and purchase games with the online money you earn! Now thats stepping into the future! Other alternatives include Gametap, which currently has 800+ games for unlimited play at $9.99 a month, Games on Demand (Various Service Providers) and Shockwave, which lets you pay a monthly fee to access their catalog of games for unlimited games. I suppose you could also tap into the power of TotalGaming.Net and purchase tokens to get a nice price on games too!
Oh, and yes, thats right theres NO DRM with Total Gaming, a choice for gamers who want to take their games on the go, whenever, whereever.
As far as RealArcade goes... I purchased 124 games from them. I am happy with them. I dont need anymore.
I will go elsewhere for games.
