While many people may already be experiencing their 6mbps speeds , A huge portion of California wasnt upgraded untill now. We recieved the upgrade previously , but because they ran into problems where speeds dipped down into ISDN range , they had to pull the upgrade and do more network equipment upgrades , and tweaks before they brought it back. Now its here finally , and im happy.

I've had 6 Mpbs down for a long while now. About 6 months I think.

Did you have to upgrade your modem?
on Dec 14, 2005
i've had 6 mbps for over 4 years now, first with insightbb and then comcast. comcast bought insightbb 18 months or so ago. dr guy, although i'm not using the a comcast issued modem (i like my linksys), it's doubtful there is a modem upgrade needed.

Then you guys are lucky! Comcast out here is over priced, and under serviced!

well, under insightbb, our price was $35 a month. when comcast bought insightbb, they raised the price to $45 a month. i called to complain a bit and threatened to cancel my service, which i would not have done, if i had to pay $45. they said i could have it for $35 for a year and then the price would be raised to the full $45. they have yet to raise it. maybe i should call and remind them

Dont pull a "Boss"! My boss noticed that the county did not list his basement on the assessment. So he called to correct it. And his assessment then went up by the appropriate amount! DOH!

No modem upgrade was needed. I have the newest RCA Digital Broadband Modem from Comcast. Works well with ZA

The modems that are crap are Terayon modems.

Nope. We have the Motorola Surfboard modem. We pay aboput $42 a month.

I blame Verizon for this.
on Dec 15, 2005
I wonder why I'm paying 57.95 a month. (Comcast)
on Dec 15, 2005
I agree Brewman - I am paying that for my Comcast and I dont really ever use the 6MB download rate.

So what if I get Yahoo page down at < 5 seconds as apposed to < 10 - its really not worth the extra 300$/yr - do you think?

Because i live in a third world country i'm stuck with 64kbps always on connection for well over 3 years now
on Dec 16, 2005
Hmm intresting... In Washington area, comcast serves only 4 MBp/s down. Our modem is so old it's an original AT&T cable service modem. That modem has been up 24/7 average for last 7-8 years.
